Welcome to StepMax Tremolo Systems

Here at the StepMax Tremolo Company founded by Joe Folmar and Keith Pate, our goal was to create a Tremolo that would retro-fit a solid body guitar, stay in tune, would be double acting, and would require no modifications or damage the guitar. This advanced tremolo was made possible due to Joe's thirty years of experience as a Guitar tech and Musician along with Keith's forty seven years of machining knowledge and guitar playing experience. It took many attempts in the machine shop before finally figuring out the mechanics for the StepMax. One early morning there was a workman using leverage to move a stone and it suddenly struck, we now had the idea for the first attempt at the StepMax. We looked through some old mechanical device books and and realized the fact that a lever is only a one toothed gear.We then realized a cam is basically the same thing with limited range and decided we would try to implement this within the StepMax. It took another couple of years and many failures along the way to come up with a working model. The rest is history and now the StepMax tremolo system has revolutionized a new design in Tremolos.

The years of research have finally paid off and we have innovated a tremolo system that not only stays in tune but also has dual-action design. The StepMax is a direct replacement for the existing Stratocaster type tremolo system and provides enhanced bending range and overall sustain.

With our Tremolo, you no longer have to do the balancing of string and spring tensions as with floating systems. The tremolo sets up like a standard Fender tremolo, decks in the neutral position and has smooth action with both high and low pitch bends. (Guitar Tremolo Technical Info)

The StepMax does not need any additional springs for installation and does not require and routing or drilling. This unit is a must have for any guitarists seeking a step up from their existing Tremolo system.
